Ramiz Raja's major health update adds to growing concerns over Imran Khan's isolation
The concerns over Imran Khan’s health have grown after 21 former cricketers, including Indian legends Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar and Dilip Vengsarkar, wrote to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. They urged the government to provide Khan with proper medical treatment and humane conditions in prison.
Earlier this month, Pakistan’s Supreme Court directed that Khan be taken to a private hospital in Islamabad for an examination by a medical board. The court also ordered the restoration of his weekly family visits. The appeal was started by former Australia captain Greg Chappell and was described as a non-political request from former cricketers. Imran Khan, who led Pakistan to the 1992 World Cup title, has been in prison since 2023. His supporters have raised concerns about his health, while the Pakistan government has denied allegations of mistreatment.
