The 52nd match of IPL 2025 was played between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. In this match, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Chennai Super Kings by two runs and got their eighth win of the season and reached the top of the points table. Royal Challengers Bangalore had set a target of 214 runs in front of Chennai Super Kings in this match.
In response, Chennai Super Kings team could score only 211 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. After losing the toss, RCB batted first and made a fiery start on the strength of Jacob Bethel and Virat Kohli. Both attacked from the first over and put Chennai under pressure. Both hit shots in a similar manner and in the powerplay, Bangalore's score reached 71 runs without loss. During this, 50 runs were scored in 4.3 overs. Bethel, playing his second IPL match, completed his fifty in 28 balls which came with the help of eight fours and two sixes.
Kohli followed him and scored his fourth consecutive 50+ score in 29 balls this season. Chennai got their first success in the 10th over. Mathisha Pathirana got Bethel caught by Dewald Brevis. Kohli was scoring runs at a stormy pace and was caught by Sam Curran. When he was out, Bangalore's score was 121 runs for two wickets. After this, Devdutt Padikkal (17), captain Rajat Patidar (11) and Jitesh Sharma (7) could not do anything special, due to which Chennai controlled the runs. But in the last two overs, Romario Shepherd scored 54 runs. Under this, he hit 33 runs off Khalil Ahmed in the 19th over and scored 21 runs off Pathirana's balls in the last over. With this, he completed his fifty in 14 balls.
For Chennai, Pathirana was the most successful with three wickets in 36 balls. Chasing the target, Mhatre and Sheikh Rashid gave Chennai a strong start and added 51 runs in 4.2 overs. During this, Mhatre scored 26 runs from one over of Bhuvi. He hit five fours and a six. Krunal Pandya gave the first blow to Chennai by dismissing Rashid. Sam Curran was able to score five runs from one four and got caught by Jitesh Sharma on the ball of Lungi Ngidi. After losing two wickets for 58 runs, Chennai seemed to be in trouble but Mhatre and Ravindra Jadeja took charge together.
Both of them made a partnership of 114 runs and put Chennai in the match. 17-year-old Mhatre hit a fifty in 25 balls. This is his first fifty in IPL. Jadeja also played contrary to his image and hit a fifty in 29 balls. The attacking style of both neutralized all the RCB bowlers. Mhatre got out after coming close to a century. He scored 94 runs in 48 balls with nine fours and five sixes. Ravindra Jadeja played an unbeaten innings of 77 runs in 45 balls. Chennai needed 54 runs in the last five overs and victory seemed certain. But Ngidi got RCB back by dismissing Mhatre and Dewald Brevis in consecutive balls. Then Yash Dayal saved 15 runs in the last over. Lungi Ngidi took three wickets from RCB's side.

Bottled a simple chase- 43 off 24 with 8 wickets in hand, after giving 54 in the last two overs. Deserved to lose. Season long over.
