During the two-day mega auction that will take place in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13 this year, a total of 590 players are expected to be auctioned off.

Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj have been retained by RCB ahead of the auction. As Bangalore’s first IPL team, they will face an additional challenge. As well as finding a captain, they must find a coach. Kohli retired as RCB captain last year, marking the end of a decade-long tenure as the franchise’s leader. With Kohli leading from the front, RCB reached the final in 2016 when the team scored 973 runs, including four centuries. Though Kohli stepped down as captain, Harbhajan Singh believes RCB might hand the job back to his old captain again. His YouTube channel contains a list of top choices for Bangalore’s leadership role, but Kohli’s return to the role was described as the best choice. Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer were also considered as Indian alternatives for the role.

”There will be a search for a new leader as RCB puts together a new team. Will Kohli accept the position? Hopefully, he’ll agree to serve as captain for 1-2 years, even though it will be a big challenge. It is also important for RCB to develop a young player who can lead them in the future. Getting Ishan or Shreyas at auction can make the Indian team a good contender for the leadership role in the future,” Harbhajan stated.

”David Warner is the best pick among overseas options. In addition to captaining the team, he will also score runs. He is also a capable leader. RCB can make use of him as a captain even though he may not be an exceptional batsman. Eoin Morgan may also be an option. But in my opinion, bringing back Kohli’s will be the best option for Bangalore,” he concluded.
