India will look to defend their Asia Cup 2025 campaign against the UAE on September 10 before locking horns with Pakistan on September 14 in Dubai. Most of the players have reached the city on September 04 as the reports revealed the inner details of their first practice session under lights.

The afternoon temperature in Dubai was around 43 degrees Celsius, which makes it really hard for the players to practice for the games. It’s a relief anyway that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has pushed the time slot by 30 minutes to start the game at around eight in the evening. They were slotted for the 6:30 slot for the first practice session on September 09 in the ICC Academy Ground.

There were lots of questions about the presence of many players yesterday. Rinku Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Abhishek Sharma, and Harshit Rana were seen to be travelling with the team, while Hardik Pandya and the captain, Suryakumar Yadav, have also landed in Dubai. The speculation was on Shubman Gill, who, according to the Revsportz reports, was confirmed to be in Dubai.

Their head coach, Gautam Gambhir, has also made it into the country along with wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson, who isn’t guaranteed to start in the playing eleven from the start of the tournament. He was in excellent form during the Kerala Premier League 2025 with 368 runs in five innings at an average of 73.60 and a strike rate of 186.80.

If the reports are to be believed, then Abhishek Sharma and vice-captain, Shubman Gill, are expected to open the batting from the opening game against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on September 10. At number three, the left-handed batter, Tilak Verma, is expected to come.

The debate is between Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma. The latter generally bats in the lower order and can use his firepower to smash the big shots, having already been in fine touch for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru during the IPL 2025. Varun Chakravarthy is also ahead of getting selected in the team, as Kuldeep Yadav could again end up warming the benches.
