Reports:Rahul Dravid is set to take on the role of mentor for the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2024 season.

According to reports, there is a possibility that Rahul Dravid, the current head coach of the Indian cricket team, may join the Lucknow Super Giants for the IPL 2024 season. Ongoing talks suggest that this potential move is contingent upon discussions between Dravid and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) following the conclusion of his term with the Indian team after the 2023 ODI World Cup.

If these discussions align positively, Rahul Dravid could transition from the national team to the franchise cricket setup and take on the role of mentor for Lucknow Super Giants. Dravid, a former captain of the Indian cricket team, assumed the position of head coach for the men’s team after the 2021 T20 World Cup, signing a two-year contract that concludes with this year’s World Cup.

While India did not secure an ICC trophy under Dravid’s coaching, the team performed well in bilateral matches, demonstrating a formidable presence. Reports suggest that BCCI is planning to meet with Dravid to discuss his future plans, but the likelihood of him seeking an extension as the head coach seems slim. Dravid is reportedly inclined to prioritize family time, which becomes challenging due to the demanding schedule and frequent travel commitments associated with the head coach role.

The potential move to mentor Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL could serve as a beneficial arrangement for Dravid. The concise duration of the IPL, spanning two months, allows for a balance between coaching duties and personal life. The mentor position at Lucknow Super Giants became available after Gautam Gambhir’s departure to Kolkata Knight Riders.

If negotiations align, Dravid could collaborate with Lucknow Super Giants, providing him with an opportunity to blend coaching responsibilities with personal life. This move would usher in a new era for the franchise, coinciding with the appointment of Justin Langer as the head coach following Andy Flower’s departure.
