Rishabh Pant's passionate message to his Indian teammates was caught on the stump microphone during Day 5 of the ongoing second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo. The wicketkeeper-batter urged the team to raise its energy and improve its body language at a crucial stage of the match. 

Pant was heard motivating the players from behind the stumps, saying, “Body language uthaane padegi.” His comments showed his desire for the team to stay energetic and focused despite Sri Lanka's strong resistance.

The Shubman Gill-led side failed to take a single wicket in the first session at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in Colombo. India had enforced the follow-on and reduced Sri Lanka to 228/6 in their second innings. However, the hosts extended their lead from 16 runs to 116 runs in a single session without losing a wicket.

Shubman Gill tried all his bowlers and also had a discussion with head coach Gautam Gambhir off the field, but Sonal Dinusha and Keshara Nuwantha continued their strong partnership for the seventh wicket. With the Indian fielders looking frustrated as the breakthrough remained elusive, Pant urged his teammates to lift their body language and stay positive.

Rishabh Pant's fiery stump mic moment on Day 5 in Colombo

Rishabh Pant was heard motivating the Indian players from behind the stumps on Day 5 of the Colombo Test. He said, “Body language uthaane padegi bhaaiyon. Bahar se koi nahin aayega. Dum lagaao thodi der yaar. Energy create karo andar. Chalo, Chalo, Chalo bhaiyon.” Pant urged his teammates to stay energetic and keep fighting as Sri Lanka continued to resist.

Pant also pointed out that the Indian players looked low on energy at a crucial stage of the match. He added, “Shoulder bahut drop ho gaya hai. Thoda mahaul banana padega. Come on, come on, come on, let’s go.” His message was clear as he wanted the team to improve its body language and create a positive atmosphere on the field.

India had dominated the opening stages of the Test after posting 503/9 declared in their first innings. Dhruv Jurel scored an unbeaten 115, while Pant contributed a quick 63. Devdutt Padikkal also scored a century as India put themselves in a strong position before Sri Lanka fought back on the final day.

Sri Lanka's resistance: Sonal Dinusha digs in on Day 5

Coming to the match, Team India finally got the much-needed breakthrough in the first over of the second session on Day 5. Manav Suthar dismissed Keshara Nuwantha after the left-arm spinner got the ball to drift into the right-handed batter. The delivery turned and bounced enough to take the outside edge, with Dhruv Jurel taking a routine catch at slip.

Sri Lanka were bowled out for 290 in their first innings, trailing India by 213 runs and were forced to follow on. However, the hosts showed great fighting spirit in their second innings, with Sonal Dinusha and Keshara Nuwantha leading the resistance. Sri Lanka reached 329/6 by the lunch break on Day 5.

The dismissal ended a frustrating 112-run partnership between Dinusha and Nuwantha for the seventh wicket. Sonal Dinusha (108)* continued to fight for Sri Lanka, with Asitha Fernando joining him at the other end. Sri Lanka's lead stood at 191 runs at the time of writing.
