After a long injury lay-off, talented wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has made a comeback in action in the ongoing Indian Premier League. However, Pant is currently leading the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPl 2024. He recently opened up on how former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni’s advice helped him to get his game better before the IPL match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Rishabh Pant is slowly getting back to form
“Mahi bhai always says one thing that focus on controllables. So it is the same that you are doing your thought process on your cricket, the work you are doing, the practice you are doing,” said Pant during a recent interaction shared by Star Sports.

“You are implementing in the match. Focus on that rather than if someone is criticizing you from outside. Thought process, I think you think this is high risk, high reward. I think I am playing normally. I am not taking any risky shots. According to me, I calculate everything. Whatever knowledge I have according to the game. That this can happen in this position, this can’t happen,” the DC captain again said.
“It is important to play well. There will be criticism but don’t focus on what people are saying. I am giving my 100% on the field. That is important for me. And I don’t lie about it. So I am fine with it,” he further added.
Notably, MS Dhoni is arguably the best captain who led India to three ICC titles. Moreover, under his captaincy, CSK have won five IPL titles so far as well.
MS Dhoni is in sublime form in IPL 2024
Meanwhile, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming has claimed that the team isn’t surprised by what MS Dhoni has done with the bat so far for CSK in IPL 2024. Dhoni has entertained the crowd with some great cameos this year and has a tournament strike rate over 255 as well.
“It’s inspirational, isn’t it,” Fleming said of Dhoni’s performances. “His batting this year even in training has been very crisp. The team isn’t surprised with what he is doing because his skill level during the pre season was very high. Other years he has obviously had problems with his knee and he is sort of recovering from that which is why there is only a certain amount of balls he can function well.
“I think everyone wants to see him for longer as we do but that amount of time is about right. We need him for the tournament and that 2-3 over cameo he is owning that space. It’s up to the rest of the batting unit to get us to a good position where he can push us over the top. He is doing that pretty much every time at the moment which is great to watch,” he again added.
