Just after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the MI captain, Rohit Sharma, has apologised to his fangirl after he failed to give an autograph as the latter started crying at the venue. 

Rohit Sharma has always been someone who takes care of his fans, whether they are from India or outside the country. And by making the viral video of apologizing to the fangirl after the IPL 2026 encounter, he has won several hearts.

Currently, the Mumbai Indians (MI) are getting ready for their last league-stage clash of the IPL 2026 against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Wankhede Stadium on May 24. The game is vital for two reasons- one being a do-or-die clash for RR to qualify for the playoffs, and secondly, Mumbai will have the chance to avoid the wooden spoon.

Despite the pressure of the situation, the former Indian captain took out time and made a special video for his fan girl and promised her to meet whenever he would be at the Eden Gardens the very next time.

“Hii Genea!! I am sorry that I couldn’t meet you at the Eden Gardens. I saw your video, and it’s actually very difficult to catch a noise when there are so many people shouting. So, I couldn’t hear you. I might have missed it, but next time, when I am there at the Eden Gardens, I will definitely meet you. Best of luck.” Rohit expressed in the video.

The incident happened on May 20 when Mumbai took on Kolkata at the Eden Gardens. Rohit’s fangirl was standing at a distance when Rohit made his way from the team bus into the ground. The fan kept shouting for the autograph of the star batter, who failed to hear you and walked inside the venue.

Soon after the incident, the little kid started to cry as the video went viral on social media platforms. It’s always a dream for any kid to meet their heroes of the game.

The former Indian captain has been in decent touch during this IPL 2026. Despite being absent from the event for a few games due to a hamstring injury, the right-handed batter nailed 283 runs in eight innings at an average of 40.42 and a strike rate of more than 160, thanks to two half-centuries at the best score of 84 runs.
