Rohit has already retired from the shortest format of the game after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa in Barbados, along with making his Test retirement in the middle of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, having gone through a period of poor form in the five-day format.

In the promo, fans were seen asking Rohit to repeat his famous dialogue of ‘garden’ and ‘gully cricket’ lines. Tired of the same lines, the Mumbai Indians batter reckoned that, “Do line kya bol di, itna viral ho gaya. Jab mera pura show aayega to kya hoga (I spoke just two lines, and it went so viral. What will happen when my entire show comes out?”
Sony earlier teased his television debut in May with the promo built around his viral ‘garden’ dialogue. Rohit had famously shouted, “Koi bhi garden mein nahi ghumega (Nobody will stroll in the garden)” during the match.

Will Rohit Sharma play the 2027 ODI World Cup?
Rohit’s move to television comes after a fresh round of speculation over his future for the Indian cricket team. The 39-year-old has the only aim in the 50-over format, which has come under the spotlight heading into the ODI World Cup 2027 in South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe.
There was speculation during the three-match ODI series against England that the third game at Lord’s could be the final appearance for the Nagpur-born. He managed only a modest contribution in the second game at the Sophia Garden in Cardiff.
