RR vs RCB IPL 2026: Key stats highlight Jaiswal–Sooryavanshi threat against Bhuvneshwar Kumar

All eyes will be on the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati tonight as the Rajasthan Royals take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RR vs RCB). Ahead of the match, the Rajasthan Royals are at the top of the IPL 2026 points table, having won three matches, while the Royal Challengers Bangalore are in second position, having won two matches; both teams have been unbeaten so far.

The result of the RR vs RCB match will be heavily dependent on the performance of the opening pair of RR. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi have been on song from the beginning of the tournament. RCB will try to pluck these two batters as soon as possible. If any of them get settled on the track, Rajasthan can secure a massive total with ease.  

In the absence of Josh Hazelwood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the leader of the RCB bowling unit. The 36-year-old pacer, who has over 200 wickets in the Indian Premier League, surprisingly had a poor record against the RR opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. So far, Kumar has never been able to dismiss the young batter.

So far, Jaiswal is leading the top run-getters tally with 170 runs in 3 matches with an average of 170.00. The 24-year-old batter smashed a couple of half-centuries in their previous two matches against the Mumbai Indians and the Gujarat Titans, respectively.

Jaiswal’s opening partner, Sooryavanshi, is also in good form for the Rajasthan Royals this season. The 15-year-old scored 122 runs in three matches with an average of 40.67 and a strike rate of 248.97. Against Kumar, the emerging batter’s records are so far not impressive.

Dhurv Jurel and Riyan Parag can also be threats for RCB 

Dhruv Jurel is another batter of the Rajasthan Royals, who is flourishing under the leadership of the newly appointed captain Riyan Parag. The keeper-batter, who was a middle-order batter for the team until the previous season, is the new number three batter for the Royals in the IPL 2026 season. As a number three batter, Jurel played a match-defining 75-run knock against the Gujarat Titans on April 4. Jurel is another batter in the RR batting line-up who never lost a wicket against the RCB pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag also has decent stats against the experienced pacer. Parag faced only 17 deliveries from Kumar and scored 36 runs, without losing a scalp.

Rajasthan Royals' real batting strength lies in their top order. The combination of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi brings stability to the team. While Sooryavanshi has been playing his natural attacking batting, Jaiswal performs in a more composed way. If Jaiswal gets to settle on the pitch, then the other batters of the team, like Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel, will be allowed to free their arms, which will not be a relieving moment for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
