One of the hardest balls to face from Krunal Pandya in the last few years of the shortest format has been his surprising bouncers. Coming from the wide angle, the left-arm spinner delivers a ball, which the batter isn’t prepared for and is shocked to find ways to counter. But Sai Sudharsan showed them the path.

Put into bat first during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the Gujarat Titans went off to a special start with the 128-run opening partnership against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on a surface that was a bit sticky to start with.

Sai Sudharsan smashes Krunal for an extraordinary six in IPL 2026

Sudharsan had already celebrated his half-century off just 33 balls in eight overs as they managed 78/0 before the first drinks break was taken. After that, the home captain, Rajat Patidar, brought back his left-arm spinner, Krunal Pandya, into the attack.

As he had done on so many occasions, whether to Shivam Dube or Yashasvi Jaiswal in this season, the Baroda spinner went short at Sudharsan, who seemed to be already prepared for the exact delivery and played one of the greatest shots of the book.

He used the pace of the spinner and got on the top of the bounce before playing a one-handed upper cut shot over the backward point region for a massive six as the ball flew over the ropes comfortably. Even the bowler was taken aback by that six.

The Chennai-born finished the over with another six. This time, the ball was a little full and a tad slow, which allowed the batter to get under it on the slog sweep. The ball went over the mid-wicket region to end the expensive over of 16 runs.

Sudharsan's century gives GT strong platform vs RCB

Sudarsan continued the aggression further and registered his century off just 57 balls. That meant his last fifty came off just 24 balls, reflecting on how easily he accelerated in the batting. The southpaw was well supported by Jos Buttler, who cracked his way to 22 runs off 11 balls with the help of two balls and one six.

Patidar, smartly, brought back Josh Hazlewood in the 16th over of the innings to dismiss the centurion. But they still had a great chance to cross the 200-run mark in their allotted 20 overs.

Brief Scores (at the time of writing): GT- 205/3 (Sai Sudharsan 100*, Bhuvneshwar Kumar 1/31) vs RCB.
