It was a bit of an emotional video, after which cricket fans started to assume about the keeper-batter's departure from the Rajasthan-based club.

In the video, Kumar Sangakkara and Riyan Parag talked about Samson and his captaincy. Ahead of IPL 2026, Rahul Dravid stepped down from the head coach position of RR. The franchise informed that they offered the former cricketer and T20I World Cup-winning coach a more dynamic role, but he turned it down and decided to leave the franchise.

After a few days, Kumar Sangakkara, the Sri Lankan cricket legend who has been associated with the Indian Premier League franchise for multiple years, was formally appointed as the head coach for the upcoming season.
