On the opening day of the Duleep Trophy 2024/25, India B cricketer Musheer Khan, brother of Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan, rescued his team with his brilliant century knock.

After India A chose to field first, India B captain Abhimanyu Easwaran and Yashasvi Jaiswal set a 33-run opening partnership. While Easwaran was dismissed for 13 runs, Jaiswal was out for 30 runs.

Brothers Musheer Khan and Sarfaraz Khan put on only a 14-run partnership for the third wicket. Sarfaraz, who has already played three Tests for India, was trapped for an lbw after scoring nine runs.

India B were struggling at 94/7

Although wickets were regularly falling from the other side, Musheer Khan fought hard from his side to rescue the team. India B, who were batting on 65/2 at lunch, were once struggling at 94/7 as all the middle-order batters failed to reach the double-digit scores.

However, Musheer never gave up and ultimately got strong support from Navdeep Saini, who stuck to the crease till the end of the day.

Till the end of the day, Musheer and Saini set up a strong 108-run partnership for the unbroken eighth wicket. Their partnership helped India B to finish the day on 202/7.

Centurion Musheer Khan had an aggressive celebration; Sarfaraz Khan had a special celebration for his brother's achievement

Musheer completed his third first-class century in 205 balls near the end of the day. He ended the day on 105 not out in 227 balls with the help of ten fours and two sixes. Meanwhile, Saini remained not out on 29 runs off 74 balls with the help of four fours and one six.

After completing his century with a quick single, the 19-year-old Musheer had an aggressive celebration. The entire India B team members gave him a deserving standing ovation, while his elder brother Sarfaraz Khan celebrated his century full of joy.

Musheer Khan made his first-class debut in December 2022. In six first-class matches before the Duleep Trophy 2024/25, the right-handed batter scored 529 runs with an average of 58.77, including two centuries and one half-century with his best score of 203 not out. As a slow left-arm spinner, he also took seven wickets.

Among the India A bowlers, Khaleel Ahmed (2/39), Akash Deep (2/28), and Avesh Khan (2/42) picked up two wickets each. Kuldeep Yadav spent the day wicketless (0/50).
