A century partnership between Sarah Bryce and Kathryn Bryce, along with some superb bowling performance, handed Scotland their historic victory, which turned out to be their maiden Women’s T20 World Cup win in the 2026 edition as they got the better of Ireland by 40 runs at Old Trafford in Manchester.

The Bryce sisters lifted the side to 161/5 after they were put into bat first, after which the spin duo of Katherine Fraser and Kirstie Gordon combined to take six wickets as Ireland crumbled to 121 runs. The latter is now without a single win in 18 T20 World Cup games of women’s cricket.

On the very first ball of the last over, when the win was only a matter of time, Bryce dismissed Aimee Maguire for two runs. The batter swept the ball towards the deep backward square leg. A sharp catch was taken in the deep by the field as she charged to her right and completed the formalities.
