The left-arm pacer of the Pakistan side, Shaheen Afridi, led the Pakistan Gold side to the National Champions Cup 2026-27 title with a stunning haul of 7/36, including a hat-trick, as the Pakistan Greens fell short of the chase by 101 runs, 341 runs, at the Multan Cricket Stadium on August 18.
Afridi was recently left out of the Pakistan side for their two Test series against West Indies and England as his red-ball record has dropped so much in recent times, having picked up 126 wickets in 58 innings of the longest format at an average of 28.13.

On the first delivery of the 37th over of the innings, Afridi came up with a thrilling yorker against Mehran Mumtaz, who was not in balance and failed to bring down the bat in time and was wrapped on the pads as the umpire instantly raised his finger to give him the leg before the stumps (LBW) dismissal.

On the very next delivery of the over, Afridi deceived Salman Mirza for a first-ball duck with a slower delivery. It was a length delivery from the left-arm pacer to the right-handed batter, who failed to judge the pace and gave an easy return catch to the batter.

On the third delivery of the over, against Naseem Shah, Afridi brought up another firing yorker against the batter, who had absolutely no clue and saw his stumps getting broken.

Pakistan Gold were bundled out for 340 runs in the first innings as they batted first. Saad Khan smashed 112 runs in 102 balls at a strike rate of 109.80, thanks to 11 boundaries and four sixes, while their opening batter, Shamyl Hussain, nailed 111 runs off 93 balls, thanks to 11 boundaries and four sixes at a strike rate of around 120.
Shadab Khan returned with figures of 2/45 in his 10 overs while Faheem Ashraf ended up with 2/40 in six overs. Naseem bowled nine overs in his spell and collected two wickets for his 59 runs in nine overs.

Pakistan Greens were bundled out for 239 runs at the end as Saad Baig smacked a dashing knock of 67 runs off 51 balls at a strike rate of 131.37, thanks to nine boundaries and two sixes. Afridi ended up with 7/36 in his 8.3 overs and earned the victory by 101 runs.
