Shivam Dube moved back, but he was never in position to get underneath. The ball kept swirling in the air and landed well past him.

Brook, on the very next delivery, advanced down the wicket and clubbed the short ball over the deep mid-wicket for a six. He backed it up with another over boundary, which was pulled over the deep backward square leg for half-a-dozen.

England lost Phil Salt early in the innings before Jos Buttler and Brook notched up a second-wicket partnership of 233 runs off just 17 overs with the wicket-keeper batter celebrating a fine knock of 131 runs off just 64 balls at a strike rate of 204.69 with the help of 12 boundaries and eight sixes. Dube broke the stand and dismissed Jacob Bethell for a golden duck.

Buttler's 131-run knock is the highest individual score against India in the shortest format of the game. Brook, meanwhile, remained unbeaten on 95 runs off 45 balls at a strike rate of 211.10, with the help of four boundaries and eight over bounaries. The home finished with 257 runs for the loss of three wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
