Watch: Shreyas Iyer smashes maiden IPL century with a massive six as PBKS Beat LSG to stay in Playoff race— IPL 2026
Shreyas Iyer, the Punjab Kings captain, celebrated his maiden century of the IPL with a massive six during the LSG vs PBKS clash of the IPL 2026 at the Ekana Stadium.

With a massive six, the Punjab Kings captain, Shreyas Iyer, raised both of his hands in the air to celebrate a fantastic century off just 51 runs as they finally ended their six-match losing streak with a seven-wicket victory in the 197-run chase.
The Punjab Kings (PBKS) needed a victory to sign off their league stage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow to keep their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs of the event alive.
From struggling captain to century hero— How Shreyas Iyer anchored PBKS’s chase at Ekana
It wasn’t a great start for the Kings, who lost both Cooper Connolly and Priyansh Arya in the third over of the chase. But Iyer seemed to be on a mission as he opened his account with two successive boundaries against Mohammed Shami, who had picked those first couple of wickets.

And since then, the right-handed batter continued his aggressive approach with regular boundaries. The LSG captain, Rishabh Pant, tried to shuffle his bowlers, but none of them was able to get rid of Iyer, who celebrated his half-century off just 33 balls.
The Mumbai-born nailed Arjun Tendulkar for two boundaries in the 15th over of the innings before the left-arm pacer took his revenge by sending back Prabhsimran Singh. The wicket pushed Iyer to harder against the Lucknow bowlers as he clubbed Shami for three sixes in an over.
Finally, he picked the slower ball from Mohsin Khan and drilled it flat over the cow corner for a six to register his maiden IPL century. He remained unbeaten on 101 runs off 51 balls at a strike rate of 198.04 with 11 boundaries and five sixes to take his IPL 2026 tally to 498 runs in 13 innings at a strike rate of 168.81, with five fifties and one century.
Win keeps PBKS’s playoff dream breathing— What this result means for their net run rate and points table position
The victory has pushed the Punjab side to the fourth position of the points table. They have 15 points with seven victories and one washed-out result out of 14 clashes at a strong net run rate of +0.309. They will hope to see the Rajasthan Royals (RR) lose against the Mumbai Indian (MI) on May 25 at the Wankhede Stadium.
In case the Royals gain the victory, they will move to 16 points and eliminate the Kings from the competition. Even if the RR loses to MI, PBKS won’t want the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to win by a massive margin against the Delhi Capitals at the Eden Gardens.
KKR is on 13 points after 13 games and can move to 15 points, but they have a weak NRR of +0.011, compared to the Kings.
