PBKS register win over CSK in IPL 2026 clash

Punjab Kings chased 210 easily to beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by five wickets with eight balls to spare at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, April 3.

Priyansh Arya started the innings strongly, scoring 39 runs off just 11 balls with many boundaries and sixes. His fast start gave Punjab a good position. Prabhsimran Singh also batted well and helped keep the team on track.

Even when Matt Henry got Arya out, Punjab stayed calm. Cooper Connolly tried to settle, but a mix-up led to Prabhsimran’s dismissal. The team remained in control.

Shreyas Iyer then played a smart innings and scored a half-century. He hit big shots and rotated the strike well, keeping Punjab ahead. Even when Iyer and Nehal Wadhera were out on consecutive balls, the team’s depth kept the chase under control.

For CSK, the loss was worrying. It was their sixth straight defeat at Chepauk. Ayush Mhatre scored 73 off 43 balls and Shivam Dube added 45 off 27. Their total of 209/5 was just par.

In bowling, Yuzvendra Chahal bowled well but missed wickets due to dropped catches. Other CSK bowlers also struggled, and small mistakes gave Punjab the advantage.

The match showed that Punjab has a strong and deep batting line-up. CSK needs to improve quickly if they want to change their season.
