Ahead of the India vs South Africa series, Team India was hit hard by multiple injury crises. After the injury of Shubman Gill, one of the main concerns appears to be the leadership role for the IND vs SA ODI series. It is unclear when Gill will make a comeback after recovering from a neck injury. He is the captain of the ODI team. Shreyas Iyer, the vice-captain of Team India's ODI setup, is also out of action because of injury.

At this moment, both Gill and Iyer are uncertain for the upcoming 3-match ODI series. If both of the players remain unavailable in the contest, then who will be the captain of team India in the 50-over series? There are some beliefs that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) can ask Rohit Sharma, who was the captain of Team India, to make a return as the captain for the India vs South Africa ODI series.

As of now, these chances are believed to be on the cards; nothing has been finalized yet. If BCCI really asks Sharma to lead the team again, will he agree to do that after getting removed from the role before the India vs Australia ODI series? That will be another interesting thing to know. Before the away series in Australia again, the board named Shubman Gill as the new captain of India's ODI team.

Rohit Sharma to become team India captain again?

Sharma was there with the team, but as a normal batter, not as a captain. In that ODI series against Australia, Gill's form was underwhelming, but Sharma was in full swing. Through the ODI series, Rohit and Virat Kohli made their team India return after almost 5 months. Both of the veterans lacked their touch in the 1st match, but Sharma bounced back and played a fifty-plus-run knock in the second ODI, followed by a century in the third match. Kohli played well in the third match.

Will Sharma be set to make a comeback as the captain of Team India again? Cricket fans have to wait to find the answer. The IND vs. SA ODI series is scheduled to start on Sunday, November 30.
