Our homeland’s lady Smriti Mandhana creates history on the second day of the day/night pink ball test held at Metricon Stadium, Gold Coast, Queensland. She made a 127 on this ground making all Indians proud. For more elaborate updates on this, read the full blog….
“Beauty comes with grace” , best described as Smriti Mandhana notched up her maiden Test 100 and caught at short mid-off for 127. In unfortunate circumstances , Indian women’s cricket team went on to lose three more wickets in the form of Punam Raut, Yastika Bhatia and Mithali Raj before play was halted due to bad weather with India on 276/5.
India would have fancied a big score as it began the second session at 231/3 with Mithali and Yastika at the crease. However, after being struck with two quick blows in the form of Yastika and Mithali’s wicket, India ended the session at 276/5. The runs are not coming as fluently as India tries to stem the flow of wickets, losing the last four for just 79 runs.
Yastika found the leading edge off a short leg stump delivery from Ellyse Perry as Mooney completed a stunner at gully by diving forward. Following up, a mix-up between Deepti Sharma and Mithali found the skipper short of her crease. The Australian pacers took the new ball in the 82nd over, found more bite in the second session providing more damage to the Indian side.
As today’s match got interrupted due to incessant rains, let’s wait for a great match tomorrow with the five Indian batsmen in hand. Nevertheless, captain Mithali raj would be definitely very proud of Smriti Mandhana today, as this day will be marked as a special day for Indian women’s cricket team.
