Indian-origin cricketer Dilpreet Singh Bajwa has come under public scrutiny during IPL 2026 following reports alleging possible links to the Lawrence Bishnoi network. The claims have triggered widespread discussion across media platforms and among fans, creating an unexpected off-field controversy during the tournament.

The allegations surfaced in the middle of the ongoing IPL season and quickly gained traction on social media. However, there has been no official confirmation from any investigating authority or statement from the player, leaving the matter currently unverified but widely discussed.

As the situation continues to develop, Dilpreet Singh Bajwa is facing growing attention and criticism. The issue has added an off-field distraction to IPL 2026, shifting some focus away from the on-field action and raising calls for clarity as the tournament progresses.

Dilpreet Singh Bajwa under scanner for Gang links and Fixing Allegations

Indian-origin cricketer and Canada national team captain Dilpreet Singh Bajwa is currently under serious scrutiny following multiple allegations related to gang links and match-fixing. According to reports, claims have surfaced linking him to the Lawrence Bishnoi network. It is alleged that support from an organised criminal group was used to influence team decisions, including his appointment as captain. Some reports also claim that players who opposed the decision were threatened.

The controversy has also drawn attention from the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit. The unit is reportedly investigating separate allegations of possible match-fixing involving Bajwa in connection with the 2026 T20 World Cup, which is being co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The probe is said to have begun after concerns were raised during a match against New Zealand on February 17, following what was described as a “suspicious delivery.”

A report by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) dated April 17 claims that an organised group may have influenced team management decisions ahead of the tournament. It further states that Bajwa was appointed captain just three weeks before the start of the competition. The report also mentions that internal pressure and intimidation may have been used to silence players within the squad, with one player reportedly withdrawing due to safety concerns.

Additional claims suggest that tensions within the team increased after their 2025 tournament success, with further pressure allegedly placed to secure Bajwa’s leadership role. Former coach Khurram Chauhan has also claimed that after raising concerns about Bajwa, his residence was targeted in two separate shooting incidents. Bajwa, who is originally from Batala in Punjab and moved to Canada in 2020, has not been proven guilty, and all allegations remain under investigation.
