Star Sports drops emotional CSK promo for IPL 2026 as MS Dhoni Dencoming video goes viral

The summer season in India is very special for cricket lovers, as during this time, they get the chance to enjoy the Indian Premier League for two months. This T20 league takes place between March and May, and some of the best players are seen in it. Something similar is expected in IPL 2026 as well, which is set to begin on March 28. Fans are very excited for the upcoming season, as the Chennai Super Kings team will also be in action, featuring the favorite of the fans, Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

The former captain of Team India is immensely popular among fans, and whenever he steps onto the field, the atmosphere completely transforms. The player, who led India to three ICC trophies as captain, retired from international cricket in 2020, but since then, MS Dhoni — popularly known as “Captain Cool” — has continued to feature in the IPL. This season as well, Dhoni is all set to return, and fans are eagerly waiting to see him in action. The broadcaster is well aware of his massive fan following and has released a special promo for the Chennai Super Kings, in which the legendary cricketer is also featured.

Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the 19th season of the IPL, shared a special promo of the Chennai Super Kings on Instagram on Wednesday, March 18, featuring a family. The promo beautifully showcases the bonding between a grandmother (dadi) and maternal grandmother (nani), centered around MS Dhoni. As soon as the wicketkeeper-batter walks in to bat, a child jumps with joy, the nani starts blowing a whistle, and the dadi begins to dance in excitement. The promo was released with the tagline, “Pyaar bhari nok-jhok jo apno ko laaye aur paas 💛 Kyuki jab rishta ho khaas, toh khelo bindaas 😍.”

This time too, local fans are waiting for Dhoni's return. This wait will end on April 3, when CSK will face Punjab Kings at Chepauk. According to the first phase schedule released by the BCCI, Chennai's team will play its first match on March 30, in which it will face Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati. 

After that, there will be a homecoming for the second match. Then, on April 5, there will be a match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, which will be played at RCB's home ground. Meanwhile, the team captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad will play its fourth match at home against the Delhi Capitals on April 11.
