Watch: Suryakumar Yadav replicates Rohit Sharma’s celebration after India’s T20 World Cup 2026 triumph
Suryakumar Yadav recreated Rohit Sharma’s iconic celebration after leading India to the T20 World Cup 2026 title.

India has made history today, Sunday, after winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final against New Zealand. The Men in Blue won their third T20 World Cup title with a comprehensive victory of 96 runs. This victory has also marked the first time the team has defended the trophy. This achievement has been made possible at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Suryakumar Yadav joined the elite club of MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma as the third Indian skipper to lift the T20 World Cup trophy. It was a moment of pride for the team as well as the fans. The Men in Blue completely dominated the finals against New Zealand. The win helped the team erase the painful memories of the 2023 ODI World Cup finals loss at the same venue.
After the win, Suryakumar Yadav repeated the famous celebration that Rohit Sharma had done earlier. He picked up soil from the Ahmedabad pitch and placed it on his forehead. The moment reminded fans of Rohit Sharma tasting the pitch soil after India’s 2024 T20 World Cup win in Barbados. The gesture quickly went viral on social media.
India Dominates Final With Bat and Ball
Earlier in the match, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and chose to bowl first. However, the decision backfired as India’s batters launched a powerful attack. Abhishek Sharma returned to form with a brilliant half-century from just 18 balls. It became the fastest fifty in a T20 World Cup final.

India eventually finished with a massive total of 255 runs. During the chase, New Zealand kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Jasprit Bumrah produced a sensational bowling performance to lead the attack. His spell helped India bowl out the Kiwis and win the finals by a huge margin of 96 runs.
