An unbeaten side aims to continue momentum against an eliminated opponent, as both teams meet in a group-stage clash with pride, form, and finishing position at stake in Kolkata

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 rolls on with Match 37 featuring the West Indies facing Italy on Thursday, February 19 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. In Group C of the tournament, the Caribbean side has pulled ahead of everyone else, winning all three games to easily qualify into the Super Eights with a perfect record (3-0). They won their first match against Scotland by 35 runs, then easily beat England by 30 runs, and then went on to convincingly defeat Nepal in their final group match by nine wickets, giving them a total of six points and a very respectable net run rate.
On the other hand, Italy has already been knocked out of the tournament after a disappointing performance in their three matches. After suffering a heavy loss in their opening game against the Caribbean side (losing by 73 runs), they came back strong to win their second game against England (by 10 wickets). They were still alive to advance to the Super Eights going into their third group game against Nepal, but after losing by 24 runs, they were eliminated from further play, leaving them with just two points for their efforts. Italy now just wants to go out on a high note and prove to themselves that they can play well and finish this tournament with some confidence and some pride.
