The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is going through a big change after the National Sports Council (NSC) dissolved its current Board of Directors. This decision was announced in a press conference by NSC Director of Sports, Aminul Ehsan. The move comes after many issues, including the team pulling out of the T20 World Cup in India. It created a lot of criticism from fans and officials.

An 11-member ad hoc committee has now been formed to run the board for the next three months. Former captain Tamim Iqbal has been named as the head of this committee. The ICC has also been informed about this decision through email. The names of all committee members have been officially shared as well.

The other members of the committee include Rashna Imam, Mirza Yasir Abbas, Syed Ibrahim Ahmed, Israfil Khasru, Minhajul Abedin, Athar Ali Khan, Tanzil Chowdhury, Salman Ispahani, Rafiqul Islam, and Fahim Sinha. Earlier, Aminul Islam Bulbul had said he would not step down and wanted to continue. He even said, “I will be the last person to go,” but the situation changed due to rising pressure.

Why Aminul Islam Bulbul was removed as BCB President

One of the biggest reasons behind Aminul’s removal was the T20 World Cup issue. Bangladesh decided not to travel to India, citing different concerns, which created a major controversy. Many people did not agree with this decision. It raised serious questions about the board’s leadership.

There were also serious concerns about the BCB elections held last year. An investigation was launched over claims of misuse of power and irregularities. Aminul responded by saying he was not involved in any wrongdoing and had only followed the rules. He added that he had submitted his reply in writing as he could not attend the committee meeting.

Apart from this, several board members resigned, which increased pressure on the leadership. There were also claims of political interference affecting decisions in the board. Aminul even said that external forces were disturbing the board’s work. With all these issues combined, the decision was taken to remove him and bring in a new committee led by Tamim Iqbal.
