In a video shared by Bangladesh Cricket on X, Tarique Rahman can be seen speaking with the players and congratulating them on their historic achievement. He also praised the players and coaching staff for their efforts.

Bangladesh produced a strong all-round performance to bowl Australia out and chase down the target comfortably. The historic victory gave the team a major boost and will be remembered as one of the biggest wins in Bangladesh’s Test cricket history.

Bangladesh stun Australia by 9 wickets to script history on Australian soil after 23 years

Bangladesh stunned Australia by nine wickets in the first Test to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. The victory marked Bangladesh’s first Test win over Australia and also their first Test victory on Australian soil. The visitors chased down a target of 57 comfortably, with Mominul Haque unbeaten on 30 and Shadman Islam not out on 25.

Bangladesh laid the foundation for the historic win with a strong first-innings total of 426. Tanzid Hasan scored his maiden Test century and top-scored with 101, while Najmul Hossain Shanto made 84 and Mehidy Hasan Miraz added 65. Australia were bowled out for 198 in their first innings, with Hasan Mahmud taking six wickets for 55 runs and Ebadot Hossain claiming two wickets. Steve Smith offered some resistance with a 71-run knock.

Australia fought back in the second innings, with Cameron Green scoring 104 and Steve Smith adding 44. However, Bangladesh’s bowlers kept control and bowled the hosts out for 284. Mehidy Hasan Miraz took five wickets for 56 runs, while Hasan Mahmud claimed three for 66. Australia’s Josh Hazlewood had earlier taken six wickets for 89 runs, but Bangladesh’s big first-innings lead proved decisive.

During the video call, BCB president Tamim Iqbal introduced several players, including Hasan Mahmud, Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Mushfiqur Rahim, to the Prime Minister. When Tanzid was introduced as a “boy from Bogura”, Tarique said that the young batter represented the entire country. “Not from Bogura, he is a boy of Bangladesh. He is representing Bangladesh, not Bogura,” the Prime Minister said.
