On Thursday, August 7, Northern Superchargers (NOS) will battle Welsh Fire (WEF) in Match 3 of The Hundred 2025 at Headingley, Leeds. It will be an electrifying encounter between two sides, who both will be looking forward to inaugurating their campaigns with a win.

The Superchargers finished in fourth place last season and just missed out on an Eliminator spot. They have Harry Brook as captain, they also have players like Dawid Malan and David Miller, and they will be looking to launch a real title challenge this year. Meanwhile, Welsh Fire ended sixth in 2024 and are looking to bounce back. Tom Abell will lead the side, with the addition of Jonny Bairstow, Steven Smith, and Riley Meredith providing the batting depth.

NOS vs WEF: Head-to-Head Record

  • Matches Played - 4
  • Won by NOS -1
  • Won by WEF - 2
  • No Result - 1

Previous contests between Welsh Fire and Northern Superchargers see the latter holding a slender lead. However, the new rosters of both teams make a rematch an unknown quantity.

NOS vs WEF: Pitch Report

The surface at Headingley usually provides an even contest between bat and ball:

  • Pace and bounce make it attractive for stroke play.
  • The large ground dimensions can test power hitters.
  • Seamers could be very effective in the early overs before the ball gets old.
  • At the same time, as the game gets longer, spinners are able to fit in with their small changes and variations.

It is very likely that this match will be evenly fought, as both sides will look to put up a 140-150+ total and at the same time try to restrict the opposition through their bowling.
