Match Details:
- Match: Birmingham Phoenix Women vs Welsh Fire Women (Match 24)
- Venue: Edgbaston, Birmingham
- Toss: Welsh Fire Women (bat)
- Date: Friday 22nd August 2025
Welsh Fire Women needed the points, and they produced a much-desired victory, winning by 36 runs (match still to be decided). Batting first, Welsh Fire scored 150 runs in 20 overs, thanks to Sophia Dunkley's 53 runs (43) and Jess Jonassen's explosive 44 runs in 17 balls, alongside Hayley Matthews' 34 runs (33). In reply, Birmingham Phoenix struggled even with Ellyse Perry being the star of the innings with 55 runs (43) and Georgia Voll, who scored 29 runs in 18 balls. The Phoenix batting was decimated in the chase by Shabnim Ismail's 3/16 and Hayley Matthews' 3/21, and we would be remiss if we didn't mention the bowling performance of Jonassen, who took 2/12. They finished 114/9, 37 runs short of the Welsh Fire target. The victory here lifts Welsh Fire off the bottom of the table, as Birmingham Phoenix is now last!
