During the trial of Mumbai Indians (MI) for IPL 2026, multiple uncapped and talented cricketers were spotted. One of them was Sanskar Rawat. Only a couple of weeks ago, he scored a blistering century for a winning cause in a state-based T20 league.

The Mumbai Indians have a good reputation for scouting top-notch talents. Sanskar Rawat has been on their radar for a long time. Last year too, the top order batter was in their trial but was not able to make the final cut. This year, the young gun from Uttarakhand has displayed some explosive batting. Additionally, he can do the wicketkeeping job too. Rawat has the potential to become a prolific keeper-batter in a higher stage.

A few days ago, when Dehradun Warriors faced Tehri Titans in the 17th match of the Uttarakhand Premier League at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun, the 20-year-old scored a century in 46 balls. His innings was laced with 11 fours and 7 sixes. Dehradun scored a total of 146 runs, of which Rawat single-handedly accumulated 116 runs.

An explosive keeper-batter in Mumbai Indians trial

Batting first, in the rain-threatened match, they scored 142 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. The home team, Dehradun Warriors, easily chased down the target, thanks to Rawat. The chasing team needed a quick start, and they got it through the keeper-batter. Before the match, Sanskar smashed 52 runs in 25 balls. Rawat entered into this year's trail of Mumbai Indians as an in-form batter.

In the IPL 2025, Mumbai Indians finished their campaign in the 4th spot of the points table. They started the season with back-to-back defeats, but they proved their mettle soon. They bounced back and qualified for the round of four. In 14 matches, the former IPL champion team got 16 points as they won 8 matches and suffered 6 defeats.
