Women’s Premier League (WPL) team UP Warriorz made a shocking trade in the pre-auction period as their in-form English cricketer Danni Wyatt-Hodge has been traded to another team.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge will play for the defending champions

WPL pre-auction retention has been extended to November 7. The 33-year-old English top-order batter Danni Wyatt-Hodge has been traded from UP Warriorz (UPW) to the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Wednesday (October 30).

Danni remained unsold for the inaugural WPL edition. UP Warriorz signed her through the 2023 auction for INR 30 lakhs, but she didn’t play a match for the team in the WPL 2024 where her team finished in fourth place and missed the playoffs.

The WPL official statement confirmed that Danni will get the same value at RCB (INR 30 lakhs), for whom she will play the WPL 2025.

Danni has an impressive record in the international cricket

In the recently concluded ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, Danni finished as the third-most run-scorer despite her team failing to reach the semi-finals due to losing the last group stage game against West Indies Women.

The right-handed batter Danni scored 151 runs in four games in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 with an average of 50.33 and a strike rate of 124.79. She scored one half-century and two more 40s in that competition at the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

England Women’s most-appearing WT20I player, Danni Wyatt-Hodge, stands in third place in the list of most WT20I appearances. With 164 WT20Is, she is just behind Indian Harmanpreet Kaur (177 WT20Is) and New Zealander Suzie Bates (171 WT20Is).

Danni is the leading run-scorer for England Women with 2979 runs in 143 innings with an average of 22.91 and a strike rate of 127.85. She has scored two centuries and 16 half-centuries in her WT20I career.

Also as an off-spinner, Danni has taken 46 WT20I wickets, including one four-wicket haul.
