Usman Khawaja laughs at PCB’s move to fine Pakistan players after T20 World Cup 2026 exit
Usman Khawaja reacts with disbelief after PCB reportedly fined Pakistan players following their T20 World Cup 2026 exit, calling the decision surprising.

Pakistan's early exit from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 became a huge disappointment for their board, and as a result, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ended up imposing a huge amount of fine on the players. While there has been no official confirmation on the news, reports suggest that the board wasn't happy with the consistent failure of the players.
Speaking on his Instagram post, Australia's batter Usman Khawaja laughed at the decision in the video. Despite laughing at first, he opened up on how the decision is not a good one for the players, as it's not the solution to the problem. Rather than imposing fines, the board should look at better preparation methods to train the players for the upcoming events. He expressed his grief for the Pakistani players that, amidst the pressure from the entire nation, the board is adding to it.
“I just heard that the Pakistani players got fined after the T20 World Cup. I mean, I didn’t believe it at first, but it must be true. It’s absolutely amazing that the PCB could think this is a good idea. Sorry, I’m laughing because I can’t believe it," Khawaja said in a video on Instagram.
“Just think, what high-performance team in the entire world, let alone cricket, fines players for losing games? They’re not trying to lose cricket games! How does that even make them perform better next time? All it does is put more pressure and stress onto the players. They’re already under enough pressure. They’re Pakistani players, the whole country is watching. Even selections in the past have put pressure on them, and now, on top of that, you’re fining them? It’s in absolute shambles. I really feel for the Pakistani players. Poor Pakistani players," he added.

It’s like a drama series: Usman Khawaja
Usman Khawaja also mentioned the reason behind making the video and ended up calling Pakistan cricket funny and like a drama series, as something is always happening with them. The board is likely to cut INR 16 lakhs from the entire squad. This seems unfair to the players who have performed in the tournament, especially Sahibzada Farhan.
“Yeah, I’m lost for words, honestly. That’s why I made this video. I can’t believe it. Every time I think Pakistan’s not going to surprise me, they surprise me. It’s like a drama series. I can’t wait for the next episode," he added.
