“Very sneaky…”- Iceland cricket takes dig at Pakistan on T20 World Cup 2026 participation
The Iceland Cricket has taken a dig at the Pakistan Cricket Team over their participation in the upcoming 2026 season of the T20 World Cup, which is going to begin on Fenruary 07 in Indi and Sri Lanka.

The Iceland Cricket, on a social media post, has taken a dig at the Pakistan Cricket Team ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, where the Salman Ali Agha-led side is scheduled to play the curtain raiser against the Netherlands on February 07 at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo, despite the doubts over the participation in the event.
Iceland cricket reckoned that it would be unfair on their squad to prepare at the eleventh hour of the tournament after PCB’s chief, Mohsin Naqvi, tweeted that the final decision on their participation in the World Cup would come either on January 30 or February 1. Iceland also hilariously called their captain a professional baker.
“Apparently, Pakistan will not finally decide on whether to take their T20 WC place until 2nd February. This is very sneaky and unfair to our squad, who need certainty and extensive preparation to perform at their best. Our captain is a professional baker.” Iceland Cricket has expressed in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Iceland cricket taunts Pakistan on T20 World Cup 2026
Pakistan has, meanwhile, deferred its decision on the T20 World Cup 2026 event, just a day after announcing its 15-member squad for the competition. Boycotting the World Cup isn’t the only option they have been considering, as there are chances of refusing to play against India on February 15 in Colombo.
“Had a productive meeting with the Prime Minister, Shahbaz Sharif. Briefed him on the ICC matter, and he directed that we resolve it while keeping all options on the table. It was agreed that the final decision [on participation] will be taken either on Friday or next Monday.” Naqvi wrote on his X post.
“You can't say for one country [India] they can do whatever they want, and for the others to have to do the complete opposite. That's why we've taken this stand and made clear that Bangladesh has had an injustice done to it. They should play in the World Cup; they are a major stakeholder in cricket.” He explained when ICC removed Bangladesh from the T20 World Cup 2026.
