The former Indian captain, Virat Kohli, has feathered another record on Instagram to be the global icon on Instagram during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.

The ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season has given a successful start to Virat Kohli and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), as both have been in form. Kohli has creamed the runs in most of the games, while the defending champions, chasing their second successive title, have found themselves in the second position of the points table.
But away from the game, Virat Kohli continues to impress on social media as he touched a massive record on Instagram. He finds himself in third position in the list only after the two superstars of football, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

There is no secret that the Indian superstar has raked in the big bucks owing to his blockbuster contracts, both for the national side and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru side, along with his stellar sponsorship deals with the likes of global brands like Puma, Audi, and MRF, to name a few.
Thanks to the whopping 276 million followers on Instagram, a big chunk of his income has been generated from the social media posts, where he has been quite regular.
The reports of the Influencer Marketing Hub have revealed that the Delhi-born earns INR 12 crore from each of his sponsored Instagram posts. He also gets INR 2.5 crore from a sponsored post on X (formerly known as Twitter) as he has 67 million followers on X. This makes him the third-highest paid celeb on Instagram after Ronaldo and Messi.
Meanwhile, the two football superstars have earned nearly INR 27 crore and INR 22 crore, respectively, for each of their sponsored posts. There is a significant difference between the numbers, but still, it shows the massive worldwide fame of the Indian superstar.
Kohli continues to impress in IPL 2026 with another record
Kohli is the leading run-getter in IPL history as he becomes the first and only player so far to cross the 9000 runs in the tournament. The right-handed batter has collected 9040 runs in 268 innings at an average of 40 and a strike rate of 133.96 with 66 fifties and eight centuries at the best score of unbeaten 113 runs.
In the ongoing edition, he has clubbed 379 runs in nine innings at an average of 54.14 and a strike rate of 165.50, thanks to three half-centuries at the best score of 81.
