Virat Kohli and cricket legends wish Kane Williamson on his international retirement
The star Indian batter, Virat Kohli, and some other legendary players have wished Kane Williamson on his international retirement after 16 years with immediate effect.

The star Indian batter, Virat Kohli, has put up a heartfelt message for Kane Williamson, who retired from international cricket with immediate effect after 16 years from his debut during the ongoing Test series against England, as he featured in the opening game of the series at Lord’s.
Williamson finished as one of the greatest to feature for the New Zealand side across formats, as he scored truckloads of runs, along with leading the side to many highs in various tournaments. He will, however, decide his future on the franchise leagues around the globe.

Williamson ended as the highest run-getter in Test cricket for the New Zealand side with 9515 runs at an average of 54.06 in 110 games as he led them to the very first World Test Championship (WTC) title in 2021, beating India in the final.
“I've thought about it for a while, but over the last few days it's become clear now is the right time. I've always felt a strong drive and hunger for international cricket.” Williamson said in a statement released by NZC.
“I take pride in knowing I've given it my all in every match I've played for New Zealand. Continuing with anything less wouldn't be right, and I feel fortunate to step away on my own terms.” He added.
The right-handed batter also finished as the fourth leading run-getter of the 50-over format with 7256 runs in 167 innings at an average of 48.69, with 15 centuries and 47 half-centuries at the best score of 148 runs. He led the side to the final of the 2019 ODI World Cup and 2021 T20 World Cup, where they finished as the runners-up.
Kohli leads heartfelt tributes — "From an opponent to a friend"
Virat Kohli penned down on how Williamson should be proud of his achievements over the years across formats. He also reflected on the journey of them becoming friends from opponents, besides cherishing every time they speak.
“From an opponent to a friend over the years. It’s been a pleasure watching you bat and compete against you over so many years, but more than that, I value our friendship and shared perspectives on the game and beyond. I continue to cherish every time we speak or meet.” Kohli wrote on his emotional post.
Wishing you nothing but the best, always, brother. You’ve done your bit; you deserve to enjoy all of it now and put your feet up. Well done, mate, life’s only just begun.” The Indian star addressed.
