About Amanpreet Singh Gill’s cricket journey

Amanpreet Singh Gill was a former India U-19 and Punjab medium pacer, born in Chandigarh, Punjab, on September 16, 1989. He was part of India’s emerging fast-bowling setup during his early years and represented the country at the youth level with promising performances.

Amanpreet shared the dressing room with several future Indian stars, including Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and Manish Pandey, during the 2007 India U-19 setup. He featured in the tri-nation U-19 tournament held in Sri Lanka involving India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, where he picked up nine wickets in five matches, showing his potential at the youth level.

In his junior career, he also played five Youth ODIs and one Youth Test for India in 2007, where he claimed the wicket of former Sri Lanka all-rounder Thisara Perera. Despite his early promise, he did not feature in the Virat Kohli-led India U-19 squad that went on to win the 2008 World Cup.

At the domestic level, Amanpreet played six first-class matches for Punjab, taking 11 wickets at an average of 54.72. He was also associated with the Punjab franchise (Kings XI Punjab) during the inaugural IPL season, marking his presence in the early days of the league. After retiring from playing, he continued his involvement in cricket by serving on Punjab’s senior selection committee.
