In an evening when it mattered the most during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 final between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Virat Kohli celebrated his fastest-ever fifty of the 20-over competition.

The Gujarat Titans didn’t bat well in the first innings to put a strong score on the board to defend. In 2026, a score of 155 won’t be enough at any cost. And it went under the shell once the Bengaluru side nailed 70 runs inside the powerplay.

Kohli in Full Flow — How the RCB star dismantled the GT bowling attack ball by ball in the IPL 2026 Final

Virat Kohli was on zero off one delivery by the end of the second over as Venkatesh Iyer took most of the charge to shoulder them to 23/0. But the third over saw the class of Kohli, who opened his account with a fine boundary against Mohammed Siraj behind the square of the wicket before pulling the short ball into the mid-wicket region for a boundary.

The right-handed batter continued his aggressive approach with a boundary against Kagiso Rabada as the ball raced away to the deep backward square leg region. He thumped the pacer for another four, followed by a six over the wide mid-on region.

On the last delivery of the powerplay, the former RCB captain banged the pull shot despite not being in control as the ball flew over the fine leg for a massive six.

With the wickets falling from the other end, it was important for him to stay at the crease and hold one end to keep the pressure off their shoulders. And with a boundary, the Delhi-born celebrated his fastest-ever half-century in the IPL.

It came off just 25 balls, overtaking the previous fifty off 26 balls against the Rajasthan Royals in 2018. It was also the joint-fastest fifty with Rohit Sharma and Chris Gayle during an IPL final. He seemed to be struggling a little with his hamstring, but it didn’t let him lose concentration in the game.
