Watch: Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma meet special fan ahead of IND vs WI 1st ODI in Kerala

The two pioneers of Indian cricket, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, are returning to action in the three-match ODI series against West Indies, beginning on September 27, after last playing for the blue brigade in the England series in the United Kingdom (UK). They met a specially-abled kid in Kerala.  

Their meeting with the child has already gone viral on social media platforms. They have also gone through the practice sessions on September 24 and 25 ahead of the opening ODI of the series at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

A special fan got a heartwarming moment with Kohli and Rohit on the eve of the match

The former ODI captain, Virat Kohli, was the first to meet the kid and was seen to be interacting with his father. After a brief chat, he gave his autograph and returned to the training session after taking a beautiful picture.

That was followed by Rohit Sharma, who came out to have a brief conversation with the kid as the Nagpur-born patted his back. The kid asked the T20 World Cup-winning captain for an autograph, to which the former captain said, “Yes, sure!!”

Their bowling coach, Morne Morkel, during the press conference, reflected on how blessed they have been to have both Kohli and Rohit’s experience in the side under Shubman Gill’s leadership.

“It is always great to have that experience back in the team. Just to guide Shubman as well, I must say Shubman has done an exceptional job so far leading the team. But I am always a big believer in your senior players and how they shape the team.” Morkel expressed.

“We are quite fortunate that we have got that experience with the senior players, and for us it is just to keep on challenging the guys to have the conversation with the senior guys. We always throw out as many questions as possible in team meetings for the senior guys to speak and to share their experience.” The Indian bowling coach addressed.

Both stars are gearing up for their return to India colours in the Kerala ODI opener

Against the West Indies, Virat Kohli is the leading run-getter in the ODIs, having collected 2261 runs in just 41 innings at an average of 66.50 and a strike rate of more than 96 with the help of nine centuries and 11 half-centuries at the best score of unbeaten 157 runs. 

Rohit is the second-leading run-getter of the format for the Indian side against this opposition, having notched up 1613 runs in just 35 innings at 57.6 with three centuries and 12 fifties at the best score of 162.

On September 27, both will look to start on a high and continue to grow their confidence for the ODI World Cup 2027 campaign in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
