After a thumping win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 1 has taken Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to the final of IPL 2025. The Bengaluru-based franchise climbed for the summit clash after 9 years; the last time, in the 2016 IPL season, they played the title decider match but have yet to win the trophy.
PBKS played Qualifier 1 as the number 1 team in the group stage and on their home field at Mullanpur. But they were torn apart by some serious pace bowling from the RCB pacers. The terror was such that half of the PBKS batting lineup were back in the hut in just 6.3 overs. The wrecker in chief in pace bowling was Josh Hazlewood, who was making a comeback from injury and took 3 scalps. While Yash Dayal chipped in with two wickets to his name and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Romario Shepherd took one wicket each.
On this impressive win, Virat Kohli's sister Bhawna Kohli took to Instagram to express his excitement after his brother's team cruised into the final. Bhawna, in her Instagram story, put up a picture of the team's logo and a picture of the players from the 2024 season and wrote "Finals" on the image.
Last night, fans were expecting an all-out fight, but in reality, it was a one-sided match, purely dominated by Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Hazlewood and spinner Suyash Sharma claimed 3 wickets each, and Yash Dayal clinched a couple of wickets. Punjab Kings, batting first, were able to score only 101 runs in 14.1 overs before losing all of their wickets.
With the low score, PBKS bowlers were left with very few assets to fight on. Inform RCB opener Phil Salt without wasting any time, took his team's strike rate to the sky and the match beyond the grip of Shreyas Iyer and his boys. The England batter's unbeaten 56 off just 27 was enough to seal the contest for Bengaluru. RCB skipper Rajat Patidar hit an over boundary to confirm their spot in the final, which will be played on Tuesday, June 3, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
