Virender Sehwag praises Mohammed Siraj's 'accuracy' after RCB's win against PBKS
Virender Sehwag applauded Royal Challengers Bengaluru pacer Mohammed Siraj.

Former India opener Virender Sehwag applauded Royal Challengers Bengaluru pacer Mohammed Siraj, saying that he bowled with accuracy against Punjab Kings. However, RCB beat PBKS by 4 wickets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to register their first win in the ongoing IPL 2024.
Siraj did well for RCB, claiming two wickets while giving away just 26 runs in his four-over spell as well. He dismissed Jonny Bairstow and Jitesh Sharma to restrict Punjab Kings to 176 for 6 in the first innings as well.
Mohammed Siraj to play a key role for RCB
Speaking to Cricbuzz after the match, Sehwag said that Siraj has become the leader of RCB’s bowling department. While Siraj scalped two wickets while bowling at an economy of 6.50, another speedster Yash Dayaal claimed the wicket of Sam Curran while conceding just 23 runs in his four overs as well. Dayal was released by Gujarat Titans after IPL 2023 and was bought by RCB for Rs 5 crore in the mini-auction as well.

“Mohammed Siraj and Yah Dayal were the only two RCB bowlers to have conceded at less than 7 an over. Maxwell and Green might pick you wickets when the captain’s under pressure but Siraj is the leader of this bowling attack, which we saw for the first time,” said Sehwag.
“It felt good to see him bowl with discipline and pace in the last four overs” – Virender Sehwag on Mohammed Siraj
He again added that it felt good to watch Siraj bowl with so much discipline in the final four overs of the match. Siraj gave away just four runs each in the 16th and 19th over of the first innings to restrict Punjab’s flow of runs in the death overs as well.
“We have seen Siraj be indisciplined with his line and length in the past but that’s being controlled as he gains experience. I would be against Siraj bowling in the final four overs but it felt good to see him bowl with discipline and pace in the last four overs. He’s not using the slower ones that much. Some who has pace should use it, especially with two bouncers allowed now,” Sehwag concluded.
