India’s aggressive opening batter, Abhishek Sharma, has not scored a single run in the T20 World Cup 2026 but made a strong impression in Ahmedabad ahead of their Super 8 encounter against South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadium, as the southpaw brought new energy with a Punjabi flavor during the training session, as the coaches had been impressed with his batting flow.

As the team gathered in a tight circle under the light, a video went viral from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which showed that the left-handed opener stepped forward to give a short but passionate speech. Abhishek Sharma ended with the words-Jo Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akaalwhich brought cheers among his teammates.

India’s bowling coach, Morne Morkel, revealed that they had no concern about the skills of Abhishek, who could look like a different beast from the Super 8 clashes against the Proteas, West Indies, and Zimbabwe.

“Absolutely no discussion. He's a world-class player. So far in the tournament, luckily, there have been some guys standing up for Abhishek (others scoring runs). But we’re going through a very important phase of the World Cup now, and we expect him to do well. And I’m pretty sure, not just for the team, but also for all the viewers watching the game. Because he’s entertaining, and we love to see that.Morkel expressed in the pre-match press conference.
