South Africa captain Aiden Markram took an excellent catch to dismiss Abhishek Sharma in the third T20I against India in Dharamsala on Sunday, December 14. Abhishek was out for 35 runs off 18 balls, as India lost their first wicket at a score of 60.

The dismissal came in the sixth over of India’s run chase. Corbin Bosch bowled a length delivery outside off stump, and Abhishek went for a big shot towards the off side. The ball got height but not enough distance and came off the lower part of the bat. Markram ran in quickly from cover and dived forward to complete a brilliant catch, with two other fielders closing in nearby.

Despite his dismissal, Abhishek had already made an impact during his short stay at the crease, hitting three sixes and three fours.

Abhishek Sharma leads India’s strong chase against SA in 3rd T20I

World No.1 T20I batter Abhishek Sharma gave India a flying start while chasing a modest 118-run target against South Africa in the third T20I.

At the time of writing, India were 83/1 after eight overs, with Shubman Gill and Tilak Varma batting at the crease.

South Africa bowled out for 117

Asked to bat first, South Africa were bowled out for 117 in 20 overs. Captain Aiden Markram fought hard and top-scored with 61 runs off 46 balls, including two sixes and six fours. Donovan Ferreira scored 20 off 15 balls, while Anrich Nortje added 12 runs off 12 deliveries. These were the only three batters to reach double figures.

For India, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets each. Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube chipped in with one wicket apiece.

A win in this match would help Suryakumar Yadav-led India take a 2-1 lead in the three-match series. India had won the first T20I by 101 runs in Cuttack, while South Africa bounced back with a 51-run win in the second match at Mullanpur.

The fourth T20I of the series will be played at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Wednesday, December 17.
