[WATCH] Controversy erupts as fan asked to hide Pakistan shirt during Old Trafford Test
A spectator, possibly believed to be of Pakistani origin, was asked to remove his Pakistani jersey during the course of the Old Trafford Test.

Team India defined all odds at Old Trafford to hold on to an unbelievable draw on the fifth day of the Test. Trailing by a monumental 311 runs and being two down for just 0 at the stroke of lunch, a massive innings defeat seemed to be on the cards for the visitors. But a gutsy 188-run stand between Shubman Gill and KL Rahul, followed by twin centuries from Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja, saved India from an embarrassing defeat.
As the dust settles on this captivating Test, a very unsettling incident has come to light. During the course of the match, a spectator donning a traditional green-coloured Pakistani jersey was present at the ground. Under controversial circumstances, the fan was asked by the security officials to remove his country's cricket jersey.
At first, he was confronted by an official who seemed to be of Indian-origin. The fan refused to remove his jersey, and as a result, things started to spiral out of control. Subsequently, more reinforcements from the security department followed suit in an effort to diffuse the simmering tension. In his defense, the fan argued that none of the Indian supporters who were at the ground had any problems with him wearing the green jersey. A few minutes later, the local police showed up and he was asked to have a brief chat outside the stadium before returning back.

As per the current regulations of the ground, only clothing related to England and India is permitted inside the stadium. Failure to comply with this rule could see a fan betting barred from entry. So the authorities were indeed right in asking him to remove the jersey.
However, the issue is highly sensitive in nature. Both India and Pakistan are never far away from picking up a fight, be it on the field or off the field. The latest military standoff between the two nuclear-armed neighbours has strained the relations even further. Mistrust and hatred have been at an all-time high.
Previously, the highly anticipated clash between India Champions and Pakistan Champions was called off due to off-field tensions and political differences. Now, the latest news of a Pakistani fan being asked to remove his country's jersey during India's game is bound to add more fuel to the fire.
