Babar Azam, the former T20I captain of the Pakistan side, didn’t find a place for the national side in their Asia Cup 2025 squad. But immense popularity and love among the home fans are incredible, as the viral video during an invitational game for the Karachi Kings proved that. It was once again on display.

During a veteran’s match in Pakistan, a fan created a funny moment when he breached the security and dodged nearly 20 officers after jumping the barriers, having been chased by them. But the fan was chasing Babar onto the field, who tried to evade him before eventually being caught.

He hugged Babar before going a step further to kiss him. The security staff rushed to the position and intervened to separate the fan from the player and escorted him away from the ground. The incident was another example of how much the home fans still love the third T20I leading run-getter, despite being omitted from the national side for the tournament in the UAE.

The selectors not only excluded Babar but also ignored Mohammed Rizwan in the side. The pair has been consistent for the national side in the shortest format, including the special game against India in Dubai during the 2021 T20 World Cup, when they chased down the target by 10 wickets. But they have lacked the firepower to match the modern T20Is.

Salman Ali Agha is currently leading the shortest format of the Green Brigade. Before the Asia Cup, as a preparation, under the head coach Mike Hesson, they are featuring in the tri-series against the UAE and Afghanistan in Sharjah. They won the first two games of the series comfortably.

The left-handed opening batter of the side, Fakhar Zaman, is a notable member of the side. His aggression at the top will be very important for the side to get vital starts in the games. The event, featuring eight sides, will begin on September 09 in Abu Dhabi. Pakistan’s huge game against India will be in Dubai on September 14.
