A funny interaction between Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) Jitesh Sharma and Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has gone viral amid the ongoing IPL 2026 season. The video gained more attention after the RR vs RCB match last night at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
RCB, the defending champion of the ongoing season, registered its first defeat. Rajasthan Royals remain at the top of the points table after winning four out of four matches.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's stunning knock ripped RCB's bowling line-up
Efforts by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel overcome the challenging target set by RCB. Batting first, Bengaluru claimed 201 runs in 20 overs. Rajasthan claimed the target with 12 more balls to play and 6 wickets in hand. Sooryavanshi, the opener of RR, played an electrifying knock of 78 off 26, which turbocharged the run rate of the team instantly.
Later, during the post-match presentation, RCB captain Rajat Patidar claimed that Sooryavanshi’s swashbuckling batting made the difference in the contest.
“I think the way we started in the powerplay, the initial wickets, and from there, 202, I think that’s a positive sign for us. And in the same way, the way their batters, especially Vaibhav, batted in the power play, I think that made a huge difference,” Patidar said.
Jitesh Sharma tried to get the bat of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
After the stunning batting against the winner of the IPL 2025 season, a video of the 15-year-old batter went viral on social media platforms. In the video, we can see that RCB keeper-batter Jitesh Sharma tried to get the bat of the young star. But the batter refused to give away his bat. Sooryavanshi said that Sharma can take his bat after the Indian Premier League 2026 season.
To get the bat, Sharma said something in the opener’s ear, after which Vaibhav Sooryavanshi loudly responded that none of the tricks would work for now, as he is determined to keep his bat for the rest of the season.
To take on the Rajasthan Royals, RCB had Josh Hazelwood in their bowling line-up. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also there to bolster the pace bowling power of the team. Despite a strong bowling combination, RCB was not able to stop Sooryavanshi from playing an outstanding knock.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi credits his father for improving batting
“I just try to do what I do in practice, do the same, don't try anything extra, and back my natural game. At the back of the mind, it stays who is bowling, but I was trying to play the ball, not look at the bowler, and play the ball according to what it is, play my game,” the Rajasthan Royals opener said after the match.
“Papa is one and also my coaches, and my guardian is Romi sir. So all these people keep telling me that the journey is very long, this has just started, so you have to focus on your process and your work, you have to focus on the game without looking here and there,” Vaibhav Sooryavanshi revealed who is guiding him at the present.
