India’s men’s side is preparing for their upcoming clash against Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. On the other hand, the women’s side will be preparing themselves for the upcoming home ODI World Cup 2025 at home, which is due to begin by the end of September, as they will feature in the curtain raiser against Sri Lanka.

The 2011 World Cup-winning moment is still special among all the players. The current Indian stars, including the T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, the red-ball leader Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Sanju Samson, and others, opened up on their memory of the moment.

“I remember exactly where I was. I remember getting my new books and uniform for the new class. I also watched a little bit of batting from outside. The whole stadium was filled with pure emotion and pure excitement as well.” Gill expressed on ICC, while Jasprit Bumrah added. “The atmosphere was electric throughout the country, and you can feel the buzz wherever you go.”

When Sri Lanka posted 270+ runs in the first innings, with the century of Mahela Jayawardene and the last ball six from Thisara Perera, and India lost Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag early in the chase, it could have been a different story. But MS Dhoni played a sensational unbeaten knock to carry them through.

“World Cups are special, but when you go play it in India, it becomes even more special.” Pandya explained while Samson shared a funny incident of the final day, “I think my electricity went off. So, I had to run off to my cousin’s home.”

The Mumbai-born, Sky, perhaps had the best seat in the house as he recalled, “Lots of crackers in our colony till 3 and 4 in the morning.” It’s time for the Women’s team to repeat the same feat and bring joy to the fans. They missed the chance in 2017, ending as the runners-up to England. But at home, they will have the full support of the crowd on every single occasion.
