The left-arm quick Akash Singh showcased some brilliance during Match 64 of IPL 2025 between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. After returning from an earlier right-hand injury, Akash generated some form of momentum during this over. But it was Akash Singh's 'notebook celebration' that caught the attention. Bowling from wide of the crease, Akash bowled a clever slower ball in the 10th over. The ball swung in sharply to deceive Jos Buttler, who drove the ball into the stumps with no need for a review of the decision. LSG changed the momentum firmly in their favor with that wicket.
After the crucial wicket of Buttler, the left-arm quick did a familiar gesture - he made a "notebook sign-off" made famous by his teammate, Digvesh Rathi. Akash, however, offered his twist on the celebration. His celebration was more subdued and less expressive than Rathi's spirit, particularly considering that the leg spinner was previously penalised and suspended for excessive celebrations. This coolness created extra charm, evoking smiles from the dugout and applause from his teammates. The celebration was well within the spirit of the game whilst advocating for support on his return from injury, and avoided the elaborate theatrics that cost Rathi missing out game due to 5 demerit points.

Buttler’s wicket was a crucial moment in the match and marked Gujarat Titans’ earliest fall of three wickets in an innings this season. His dismissal left GT in a dire situation and set the tone for an impressive bowling performance from the Lucknow-based franchise. Akash Singh’s ability to deliver under pressure, especially after sustaining an injury, highlighted his resilience and value to the team. The slower ball that deceived a seasoned batter like Buttler showcased his evolving skillset, earning praise from commentators and fans alike.
Lucknow Super Giants cruised to a commanding 33-run win over Gujarat Titans after posting a massive 235/2 in their 20 overs. Mitchell Marsh led the charge with a breathtaking 117 off 64 balls, smashing 10 fours and 8 sixes at a strike rate of 182.81. Aiden Markram added a lively 36, while Nicholas Pooran's unbeaten 56 off 27 provided a strong finish. Gujarat’s bowlers were under pressure from the start, with only Arshad Khan and Sai Kishore picking up a wicket each.
In response, Gujarat Titans put up a spirited chase but fell short at 202/9. Shahrukh Khan was the highest scorer with a quickfire 57 off 29 balls, along with skipper Shubman Gill, who added 35, but the regular fall of wickets disrupted their innings' momentum. A few useful overs from Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford saved face further, but LSG’s bowling was far too much for them, with William O’Rourke also remarkable with his bowling effort ending the game with a bowling figure of 3/27. Avesh Khan and Ayush Badoni also took two wickets each. The Player of the Match award was awarded to Mitchell Marsh for his aggressive century that got the win underway.
