The epic rivalry between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) might have faded over the years, as the fans claim, but the players enjoy playing against each other. Even today, MI lead the head-to-head race, 19-18, but CSK are definitely winning the matches lately. In this Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, CSK have won two matches against their arch-rivals, which is a rare sight. 

Super Kings, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, won their second encounter against MI yesterday at the Chepauk Stadium. While they were chasing just 160 runs, the home team took the game till the second last over, which could have been avoided. With this win, CSK have reached the sixth position in the points table once again. They have to win the rest of the five matches to qualify for the playoffs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad reveals emotions for CSK vs MI clash in IPL

CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad played a match-winning knock, helping the team win their fourth match of the season. With every win, their chances of qualification increase. He scored his second half-century as well, and it looks like his form is back. After the match, he spoke about how fond he is of the El Clásico while growing up, and the streaks were against CSK. But now, the tables have turned.

"I always loved this El Clasico since I was a kid - there was a period where they went on a streak against us - won 7-8 games & we just won 1 or 2 - since I came to the team, I always wanted it to be on the winning side but I had to face couple of loses - lucky enough that there have been phases the team has done really well, contributed really well," said Ruturaj Gaikwad after the match.
