In a rain-struck IND-W vs PAK-W ICC Women's World Cup 2025 match, India batter Jemimah Rodrigues avoided an early dismissal and then added some sufficient runs to the team's total.
The India Women's cricket team and the Pakistan Women's cricket team lock horns today at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo, for a Women's ODI World fixture. Like the men's Asia Cup 2025, in this match too, India avoided a handshake with the Pakistan skipper after the toss.
Former India skipper Mithali Raj, who presented the pitch report from the field, claimed that the surface could be hard and beneficial for pacers with the new ball and batters during the middle overs of the match. After winning the toss, Pakistan Women's team captain Fatima Sana decided to bowl first against Harmanpreet Kaur's India.
Jemimah Rodrigues caught out early in the match!
The India Women's team presented good batting, but their strike rate was well below the runner ball. Harleen Deol (46) and Pratika Rawal (31) tried to lay a strong foundation for a competitive score, but to put a strong total on the board, Team India needed some quick-paced innings in the middle. Jemimah Rodrigues could be the right person to boost up the run rate for India.
Pakistan knew Rodrigues could be very dangerous. So they tried to clinch her wicket as soon as possible. During the third ball of the 6th over, Diana Baig picked up the wicket of the batter, caught behind the stumps. Pakistan players started to celebrate the moment, but the umpire called it a no ball. Jemimah Rodrigues survived. She went back to the pavilion after making 32 off 37 with 5 boundaries.
