Watch Joe Root making new record during the ENG vs IND 4th Test in Manchester.

The third day of the fourth Test between England and India at Old Trafford in Manchester started with a lot of expectation of the home boy, Joe Root, breaking several records with the bat. He was the fifth leading run-getter in the longest format before this game, but wrote a new chapter in this format against India.
First, it was a single into the leg side from the right-handed batter to go past the former Indian captain, Rahul Dravid, in the list of most runs in Test matches. Later, against Mohammed Siraj, the England batter punched into the off-side and rushed for a single to celebrate the new record.

The entire crowd, who were making a great atmosphere in the ground, stood on their feet and applauded the record as Joe Root surpassed the former South Africa all-rounder, Jacques Kallis, to become the third leading run-getter of the red-ball game. He now has 13290+ runs in 286 innings at an average of more than 57, thanks to 67 fifties and 37 centuries.

Root will be a vital member of the side for England’s next winter trip to Australia for the Ashes 2025/26. It’s incredible how the veteran, despite all the records, doesn’t have a single Test century down under, something which he will look to change by the start of next year. Root also has a great chance to go past Ricky Ponting in this Test.
England, undoubtedly, has taken the front seat in the contest. They have over 300 runs on the board with still eight wickets left. Any lead of over 150 will seal the series for them, as India will face another red-ball series defeat in England.
