Watch: Mohammed Siraj’s incredible diving catch attempt vs USA in T20 World Cup 2026
Mohammed Siraj delivered a strong bowling spell and a dramatic diving effort as India sealed a hard-fought win over the USA in the T20 World Cup 2026.

India defeated the United States of America by 29 runs in Group A Match 3 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The match was played on February 7 at the packed Wankhede Stadium. After choosing to bat first, India struggled from the beginning but was able to put up a competitive score and hold on to it.
India's innings got off to a stuttering start, and the top order was under pressure. Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a golden duck, while Ishan Kishan (20) and Tilak Varma (25) could not convert their starts. At one stage, India were reduced to 46/4. The USA bowlers kept the scoring tight and forced mistakes.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav then took charge and steadied the innings. He played a brilliant unbeaten knock of 84 off 49 balls. His late assault, which included 21 runs in the final over, lifted India to 161/9. That late charge proved to be handy and gave them something substantial to defend. The USA bowlers were impressive for most of the innings with their discipline. Shadley van Schalkwyk stood out with excellent figures of 4/25. Ali Khan took early wickets, and spinners Mohammad Mohsin and Harmeet Singh dominated the middle overs. India had to work hard for every run until the final over burst.
Mohammad Siraj’s Dive and India’s Bowling Control
During the USA chase, a dramatic moment came in the 4.1 over. Arshdeep Singh bowled a good-length delivery that moved away sharply. Milind Kumar edged the ball towards short third man. Mohammed Siraj produced a stunning full-length dive and got both hands to the ball. However, as he landed, the ball slipped out, and the catch was dropped, allowing a single.

Despite that missed chance, India’s bowlers stayed calm and in control. The USA received fighting contributions from Sanjay Krishnamurthi and Shubham Ranjane, who scored 37 each, while Milind Kumar added 34. But the rising run rate forced risky shots late in the innings. Siraj recovered well to finish with 3/29, Arshdeep took 2/18, and support from Axar Patel and Varun Chakaravarthy sealed the game as the USA were restricted to 132/8.
